Only two working computers!!

No photos this week- In explanation we have only found one email place that is open today and it only has 2 working computers so Soeur Needs and I are only having 45 minutes each, plus the usb ports don’t work.

We got answers to some questions and reassurance that all is well. There were photos of the talent night last week and we noted that Soeur Holt had avoided the topic of what the missionaries had done: we sang the iron rod because apparently it isn’t a French hymn and apparently our speaking/singing in English is a talent!!!

Last week we had asked some questions. “The Church has recently introduced a manual called Teaching in the Saviour’s Way- it is great to read of your experiences and the teaching opportunities that you have. To teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ is wonderful. How do you feel that your teaching has improved- what kind of strategies do you use?” Her answer came back: We often use scriptures and then only ask questions in order for those we are teaching to come to their own conclusions, e.g. we use Matthew 16.18-19 and ask questions about keys etc:

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

With the same scripture as well as other instances we use a lot of metaphors and object lessons- for example, we have lots of keys and say that one opens my house… if I go on holiday and want someone to look after my house who do I give it to? Someone that I trust, but if there is no one around that I trust? I lock up my house and keep the key. The same is with Heavenly Father and his priesthood power.

We often use a little whiteboard to draw out little diagrams one that we like is to draw the world to illustrate the bible being written in Jerusalem and the Book of Mormon in America.

Soeur Holt is able to learn lots about herself, the things she highlighted this week were, honestly, I’m not as smart as I thought I was about everything and I love my family so much more than I realised! It’s good for all of us to recognise our reliance on others and the Lord. One of the people she is able to rely upon is her Mission President with whom she met last week, we asked how that went: Good- he is super nice, we talked about my concern for the Abymes area for the future because the situation now [only having the Sisters work there part time] is obviously not sustainable. He reassured me that missionaries would continue to have the area of Abymes. What’s lovely to note about this, is that her concern doesn’t seem to be with herself but with others and the work.

Soeur Holt’s scripture of the week reminded her of a Gospel message but also her brother:

“Now, because Gideon withstood him with the words of God he was wroth with Gideon, and drew his sword and began to smite him. Now Gideon being stricken with many years, therefore he was not able to withstand his blows, therefore he was slain by the sword” (Alma 1.9).

We can withstand anything if we use the words of God (spirit/ power/ authority) GIDEON!!

There wasn’t an awful lot about this week’s activities so we’re hoping they find a place to send more news in an email next week.

Just catching up on last weeks post.

I know you can’t read these posts now but all the comments will be here for you to catch up on when you get back.

Love how hard working and diligently you’re working. I hope you will get sorted with a FT companion soon. Your mission will be full of struggles. I’m thinking about how young women was hard with just you and Abby but you were both stars ✨ and just got on with it. And I see you are carrying that attitude throughout your mission. You really are an amazing young woman and I’m proud to know you 😘

    Love the Anthony’s 😘
